President's Message:
As the president for the 2009-2010 Term I want to welcome all AACE members
and visitors to the St. Louis Section website. This year the section is
focusing on the usual strong programs and speakers but wants to attract
and inform college student who may be interested in Project Controls or
Construction Management as a career. To further this goal we will present
one program aimed at students at Washington University and Southern
Illinois University campuses.
Another important element of membership and participation in AACE
functions is Networking. These monthly meetings are a great place
to learn where jobs are and who to contact about jobs. For employers it is
an opportunity to meet potential employees.
Corporate Sponsorships
(CSP) is an AACE package of benefits designed to
encourage companies to develop the skills of their cost and management
employees through AACE membership. AACE's Corporate Sponsorship consists
of eight paid employee memberships, company recognition on the AACE
Website and in the Cost Engineering Journal, the Virtual Library - CS
Edition option, and discounts on various AACE merchandise, meeting
registrations, and certification fees. They get some reduction in
membership dues and the recognition in AACE. Your corporate web link will
be placed on the AACE website (over 850,000 hits per month). |

Project Controls Group is a
Corporate Sponsor within our section.
If your company is interested in this program, the
AACEI
website has more information.
I also want to recognize Marvin Woods who received the
Charles V. Keane Distinguished Service Award this summer during the Annual
Meeting in Seattle. “This award is an endowment award presented by the
association to a member of an AACE section who has consistently endeavored
to enhance the professional image of cost engineering over an extended
period of time.” Congratulations Marvin.
Also the section won another Superior Section Award at the annual
meeting. This is the 2nd time in the last 5 years that the section has
earned this award. Congratulations to David Motherwell and the outgoing
officers for that accomplishment.
